1. Lampino’s Beginning:
Back in 2019, with a 6-month-old baby keeping me busy, I needed something I could manage at home. That’s the framework from which Lampino was born! My main goal was to turn my years of experience in handmade crafts from a hobby into a real source of income. And guess what? I did it! Lampino and I are growing together every day. It’s kind of strange, but the pandemic hit right when I was starting out. It turned out to be an interesting challenge, though. I decided to rely on myself and my skills instead of waiting for things around me to change.
2. Inspiration from Tbilisi’s Architecture:
The real story of Lampino began with an idea – architectural lighting. My background as an art major with graphic design skills, along with my love for Tbilisi’s old architecture, all came together like a puzzle. I just tried to recreate Bethlehem Street 3 with its magical stained glass in miniature form. It worked like magic, and that’s how it all started!
3. Diverse Customers:
One of the most pleasing things about Lampino is the wide range of people who love my work! From all over Georgia and the world, Tbilisi and the regions, children and adults – it doesn’t matter who you are or how old you are. I managed to create something that can spark emotions and be interesting for all kinds of people.
4. Soviet Architecture with a Twist:
Right now, I’m really into Soviet architecture. At first glance, it might not seem that appealing, but when you see it in a miniature version, it brings back a wave of emotions! Childhood memories, from the 90s, all come flooding back, along with the sounds of playing in the yard. The cool thing about looking at things from a distance is that you can process your emotions, understand them, and then move on with a fresh perspective.
5. The Future of Lampino:
My plans for the future are still a bit broad. I’m starting to explore making furniture, but I need to develop those unique designs first. I need to capture that special vision and keep working on it until I feel satisfied and ready to move on to the next discovery.
